The new and improved Speed Matters

Just five months in and 2009 has all the makings of a momentous year for broadband speed and adoption.

First, the federal government commits $7.2 billion of stimulus money for high-speed Internet, which starts up a national dialogue on acceptable Internet speeds, areas of need and the problem of adoption rates. Now, Speed Matters launches a new and improved website.

Okay, clearly the new website is not nearly as important as broadband stimulus money or a national conversation on the issues surrounding high-speed Internet. However, with the new design and some new features, Speed Matters remains the number one resource for all things broadband Internet deployment and adoption.

So what's new?

  • The benefits of high-speed Internet - This new section identifies the eleven most significant benefits of affordable high speed Internet for America in an easy to understand manner. Each benefit is accompanied by an informative fact sheet done in coordination with a Speed Matters partner and a dynamic feed of relevant blog posts to keep you up to date on the issue.
  • A redesigned and refreshed speed test - Test the speed of your Internet connection with our new tool and help us get the most reliable data possible for our 2009 edition of our annual report on Internet Speeds in all 50 States.
  • The number one resource on broadband stimulus money - A complete guide to understanding the broadband stimulus bill, what the funds can be used for and who is applying for them.

Let us know what you think of the new design and remember to take the speed test - even if you already have in past years.
