Pew Survey: Internet Fosters Civic Participation
Eighty percent of Internet users participate in voluntary groups or organizations. Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project released data from a national survey, "The Social Side of the Internet", showing how significantly the Internet is rooted in groups and organizational life in America. Internet users and social media users are much more likely to be active in voluntary groups or organizations than non-internet users.
