AT&T expands its North Carolina gigabit reach to Winston-Salem
Last April, Speed Matters reported that AT&T had received the backing of the statewide North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) which urged its member cities and universities to contract with AT&T to provide its fiber-based U-verse with GigaPower.
This week, AT&T announced that it has ratified an agreement with one of the NCNGN cities – Winston-Salem.
According to AT&T:
“The plan outlines potential fiber deployments to deliver ultra-fast broadband to parts of Winston-Salem. AT&T U-verse with GigaPower will also deliver advanced TV services and Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than what is available in Winston-Salem today.”
Similar AT&T plans are awaiting ratification in Carrboro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh.
