Washington high speed Internet initiative is approved
Great news! Washington Governor Christine Gregoire has signed The High Speed Internet Initiative into law. This legislation calls for a strategic plan and specific proposals to expand high speed Internet statewide to be completed by the Washington Department of Information Services in time for the 2009 legislative session. With this CWA-sponsored Speed Matters legislation, passed unanimously through the legislature, Washington is leaps and bounds closer to achieving universal high speed Internet access.
Calls and emails from CWA members and activists let legislators and Governor Gregoire know how important this legislation was to the people of Washington. Now that they have passed this important legislation, Washington residents should take a moment to thank them for taking the first step to expanding high speed internet statewide.
