OSHA wants information on tower work
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched a request for information (RFI) into communications tower construction and maintenance practices, and it's reaching out to tower companies, broadcasters, trade groups, and the public for input. According to the agency, "2013 was the deadliest year for communication tower workers since 2006," with 13 recorded deaths.
The RFI states: "OSHA is aware of employee safety risks in communication tower construction and maintenance activities and is requesting information from the public on these risks. This RFI requests information that will assist the Agency in determining what steps, if any, it can take to prevent injuries and fatalities during tower work."
